It strode across the podium - long, fair hair, a beautiful face, a broad smile. Completely silent, and yet a whole world was mesmerized.

You'd almost think I was talking about Lucia. And given the collective admiration - how we all, at some point, might have wished we were there ourselves - it's not an entirely unreasonable comparison.

But I'm talking about something else. Drum roll. Victoria's Secret.

The start of the 'What I eat in a day' wave on YouTube. Perhaps the very first and biggest influencer phenomenon of our time. And I'm not going to lie - I had Victoria's Secret's entire collection of bodymists neatly lined up on the shelf in my girls' room.

But what if the wings no longer sparkle? If the smile fades and the hair no longer falls in perfect waves? If ribs and spine suddenly appear in a different light?

So what exactly is the fascination - more than a simple, slim female body?
